As the fight against fires in Yambol Region continues, caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov gave an update on the fire situation in Southern Bulgaria. On his Facebook profile, he said the residents of the villages Krainovo, Strandzha, Voden and Golyam Dervent in Yambol Region are not currently facing any immediate danger.

"We have employed heavy equipment and made clearings to protect settlements from encroaching wildfires. The situation in the village of Golyam Manastir is under control," he wrote.

The fire in Otets Paisievo, Plovdiv Region, has been contained successfully after four days of intense efforts by firefighters. The crews also managed to control similar outbreaks near Harmanli, Haskovo Region, and in the village of Apriltsi, Kardzhali Region. Stoyanov said the villages of Shtarkelovo and Elshitsa were no longer at risk.

He highlighted the crucial role of two Czech helicopters in providing timely assistance, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of all institutions.

"Spain will bolster our efforts with two aircraft, each with a capacity of approximately six tonnes. They are expected to join the firefighting operation as early as Saturday. France is also ready to contribute two helicopters," Stoyanov added.

"Firefighters responded to over 300 alerts across the country on Thursday," he said.

"The Labour and Social Policy Ministry , along with the Interdepartmental Commission for Recovery and Assistance, will support people impacted by the disaster," he said. "The absence of fatalities is the most crucial aspect in this difficult situation".
