site.btaInternational Olympic Committee: Canoeist Yoana Georgieva Cleared for Paris Games

The International Olympic Committee has approved Bulgarian canoe kayak Olympic athlete Yoana Georgieva's participation in the Olympic canoe-kayak events at the Paris Games, the Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) said on Thursday. Georgieva will replace Pamela Ivanova in the Bulgarian delegation.

BOC recently initiated the procedure required to facilitate Yoana Georgieva's participation in the single kayak 500 meters event.

The International Testing Agency (ITA) suspended the Bulgarian athlete for breaching anti-doping regulations. ITA said that the athlete was unavailable for a test on December 15, 2023.

On July 15, the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne lifted the ban, allowing Georgieva to compete in the Olympics.
