The Turkish side has taken necessary measures to provide assistance and support for Bulgaria in firefighting, said Friday Edirne Governor Yunus Sezer. He inspected the border area near the Bulgarian town of Svilengrad, in connection with the ongoing forest fire.

Sezer was informed of the current situation, as well as of the measures that have been taken to prevent the spread of fire from Bulgarian territory, Anadolu News Agency reported.

A team of 32 people from the nearby border town of Kirklareli has been sent along with equipment to take part in the firefighting operation near Svilengrad.

The team was formed on the instructions of Kirklareli Governor Birol Ekici, Forestry Directorate, Kırklareli Special Provincial Administration, Municipality Fire Department, Emergency and Disaster Response Service (AFAD).
