Over 17,000 consultations on issues related to citizens' social, social security and labour rights were conducted by the call centre of the Labour and Social Policy Ministry in the first half of 2024, the Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.

Citizens are most often consulted on topics related to social protection, assistance and social integration. Some two thirds of the inquiries were related to social rights. Citizens also showed interest in the payment deadlines for monthly benefits under the Family Allowances Act and the Social Assistance Act.

The most frequent inquiries about labour legislation were related to conclusion or termination of an employment relationship, termination of an employment contract during a probationary period by an employer, and protection in case of dismissal for certain categories of workers.

The Ministry's website reports that consultations are given from 9 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on weekdays. Specialists answer questions about social benefits, services for the elderly, integration of people with disabilities, employment relations and safety at work, European social law and international labour agreements for families and children, operational programmes, among others. The alerts received are submitted for verification to the competent administration bodies of the Labour and Social Policy Ministry, the press release further reads.
