Bulgaria’s Parliament Friday will vote on a no-confidence motion against the Denkov Cabinet over its energy policy. It will do that during an extraordinary plenary sitting scheduled to begin at 3 pm. The vote is the only item on the agenda published on the National Assembly's website.

The no-confidence motion was submitted to Parliament last week by Vazrazhdane, BSP for Bulgaria, There Is Such a People, and independent MP Radostin Vassilev and was signed by 72 MPs in the 240-seat legislature.

Thursday’s debate on the no-confidence motion in the National Assembly lasted nearly four hours. MPs traded accusations in heated exchanges.

Under Parliament's rules, the vote on the motion can be held no earlier than 24 hours after the debate. For the vote to be successful, it must be backed by at least 121 votes. If the no-confidence motion is rejected, a new motion may not be tabled on the same grounds for the next six months.

BSP Floor Leader Korneliya Ninova Thursday told journalists in Parliament that if the Government survives the vote, her party will immediately start collecting signatures for a no-confidence motion on the issue of national security and defence, which they will submit as early as next week.
