Deputy Minister of Tourism Irena Georgieva opened the fourth international Air/Transport Connectivity and Tourism forum, which is being held in Burgas, on the Black sea.
“Tourism without connectivity is unthinkable. Connectivity is within the competence of other ministries, but we maintain good communication with all our colleagues in order to fulfill our goals for successful tourism,” Georgieva said.
“The role of the Ministry of Tourism is to be a moderator in discussing issues related to connectivity, but above all a mediator in order to guarantee better transport connectivity. For our part, we must offer a quality tourism product,” Georgieva added. She congratulated the participants in the forum on behalf of Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh..
The event was attended by mayors of Black Sea municipalities, representatives of institutions, the tourism industry, as well as official guests from Greece and Turkiye. The forum was moderated by Valentin Atanasov from the Rafael - Info, Culture and Tourism Association, which organized the event jointly with the Bulgarian Aviation Industry Association.
Parliamentary Committee on Tourism Chair Taner Ali, told the attendees that without regional development, infrastructure and transport there can be no tourism. "All this depends on the legislative initiatives and proposals of the Ministry of Tourism to the legislature," he noted.
“Without year-round tourism, there is no future for the Balkan countries participating in the forum. The competition in the field of tourism at a global level is enormous. We, as legislators and as the Tourism Committee, work very well with the new Minister of Tourism. I believe that despite some differences, we are all united in one thing - to develop tourism in Bulgaria. This can happen through interaction between all institutions,” added Ali. He expressed the opinion that one of the biggest obstacles to successful year-round tourism in this country is bureaucracy. "Hopefully, electronic visas will become a reality soon. This is also important for workers from third countries," he noted.
