site.btaBulgaria Attaches Great Importance to Strategic Relationship with UAE - Foreign Minister

In a telephone conversation with Emirati Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev said, quoted by his Ministry in a press release on Thursday, that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a very important partner of Bulgaria in the Middle East and Bulgaria attaches great importance to the strategic relationship with that country.

"During the conversation, the two ministers established a good working contact in the spirit of a desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation and interaction on the international scene between the two friendly states," the press release reads. 

The sides exchanged views on a number of key international and regional issues of shared interest and regarding the opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the process of building EU-UAE relations.

Both ministers expressed particular satisfaction with the upward trend in the economic contacts between the two countries. They noted the holding in 2025 of the first session of a Bulgarian-Emirati Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation, which will give an extra boost to the economic, investment and high-tech cooperation.

In the course of the conversation, Georgiev pointed out that the 3,000-plus strong Bulgarian community in the UAE is the largest in the Middle East. There is also a steady increase in the number of Bulgarian tourists visiting the Gulf state, which topped 32,000 in 2024.

The two chief diplomats exchanged invitations to visit their respective countries.
