Commenting on the possible return of the 20% VAT rate for restaurateurs, GERB leader Boyko Borissov told journalists in Parliament on Wednesday that no one has spoken to the largest parliamentary group about such a thing.
“We have said throughout the campaign that this type of business – restaurants, gyms, entertainment providers, the tourism industry, the hotels – they suffered the biggest blow from the coronavirus. They were literally crushed by the measures back then,” Borissov said, adding that this was the reason why the VAT rate was reduced in the first place.
On the ministry's proposal for a financial incentive for people who report tax evasion, Borissov said they would not support a whistleblower measure.
