site.btaHonorary Consul in Cluj-Napoca Stefania Martak Wants to Promote Direct Flights to Bulgaria

Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Cluj-Napoca Stefania Martak told BTA that she wants to promote direct flights between Cluj-Napoca and Bulgaria. She is a lawyer by education and works in one of the largest Romanian construction companies.
At the end of September 2024, the Council of Ministers decided to open an honorary consulate in Cluj-Napoca. The office was officially opened on Wednesday with a ceremony attended by Bulgaria's ambassador to Romania Radko Vlaykov and the member of the Bulgarian minority in the Romanian Parliament and Bulgaria's honorary consul in Timisoara Georgi Nakov.
Minutes before the ceremony Stefania Martak told BTA:
What will be the main priorities in your work as Honorary Consul of Bulgaria in Cluj-Napoca?
I would like to support the development of economic relations between the two countries, the transformation of Cluj-Napoca into a commercial hub between the two countries, so that investors have new opportunities both in Romania and in Bulgaria. I also want to get actively involved in tourism. I want to encourage direct flights between Cluj-Napoca and Bulgaria, because there are mountains there, a very beautiful sea coast, and such a link would help a great deal both economically and in terms of tourism. Last but not least, Cluj-Napoca is a university town. I would like to encourage students from Bulgaria to come here, to study here, to create new opportunities, including at academic level.
Your father is also an honorary consul. You are following in his footsteps.
Yes, he is the honorary consul of Burundi. He was the first consul from Cluj-Napoca. And I'm proud to have him as a mentor.
Are there any Bulgarians here in Cluj-Napoca? There is a neighbourhood in the city called "Bulgaria".
There is indeed such a neighbourhood. There are Bulgarian students enrolled in different universities in Cluj-Napoca, but also about 22 companies with Bulgarian capital. Tourism is increasingly well represented in Cluj-Napoca, and, thanks to events that take place here, such as the Untold Festival, more than 2,800 Bulgarian students and young people have visited the city. I am very happy, and I hope that this figure will only grow.
