Matilda The Musical will premiere in Bulgaria on March 27, the Sofia Opera and Ballet said. 

The music and lyrics are by Tim Minchin, the libretto is by Dennis Kelly and the story is by the famous writer of children's literature - Roald Dahl. His Matilda was published in 1988 and became one of the most popular children's novels in the world. The musical has won 47 international awards and continues to thrill audiences of all ages around the world.

Rehearsals at the Sofia Opera House have already begun. After a special casting, the role of Matilda Wormwood will be played by young performers Marta Vateva and Nikol Veselinova.

The production is directed by Yulia Krasteva, set design by Nela Stoyanova, costumes by Hristiana Mikhaleva-Zorbalieva and choreographed by Riolina Topalova. The multimedia scenography is by Elena Shopov.

The next performances are on 28, 29 and 30 March, 4, 5 and 6 April.

But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts, and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
