site.btaBulgaria to Provide BGN 2.9 Mln in Grants for Western Balkans, Eastern Neighbourhood, Middle East, Africa and Asia

At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers allocated BGN 2,886,471.16 in grant financial aid for 2025 under Bulgaria’s Official Development Assistance Programme for the implementation of projects in partner countries from the Western Balkans, the Eastern Neighbourhood, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, the government said in a press release on Wednesday.
As an important tool of foreign policy, official development assistance contributes to Bulgaria’s recognition on the international stage as a consistent and reliable partner and supports the development of good neighbourly and friendly relations with partner countries, the press release further reads.
The funded project proposals are aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals set in the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and are aligned with the capacity of the Republic of Bulgaria to provide official development assistance.
The areas targeted by Bulgaria’s development aid in 2025 include stimulating local economic growth and innovation, implementing necessary reforms in the public sector, human rights, and the rule of law – including preventing hate speech – improving the environment for people with disabilities and their integration into social life, ensuring access to quality healthcare and education, and preserving cultural heritage.
