At a meeting in Munich on Saturday, Ministers of Foreign Affairs Georg Georgiev of Bulgaria and Hakan Fidan of Turkiye discussed the policies in the field of security and defence, the fight against illegal migration and the common actions in the field of border control. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Munich Secuirty Conference, the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry reported.
"Turkiye is not only our neighbour, but also a NATO ally, a trading partner, an important factor in terms of transport and energy supplies," Minister Georgiev said during his talks with Fidan.
The Bulgarian Foreign Minister pointed out that the further development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Turkiye in all areas of active cooperation is one of the priorities of Bulgarian foreign policy, based on a pragmatic, results-oriented approach.
The Foreign Ministers agreed that excellent sectoral cooperation has been established between the two countries in a number of areas of mutual interest, and its further deepening is important and will be profitable for both sides.
