Bulgarian Deputy Foreign Minister Ivan Kondov conferred with Kosovo Ambassador to Bulgaria Haxhi Bajraktari, the Foreign Ministry said in a press release on Thursday.
The two sides gave a very positive assessment of the bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Kosovo and discussed opportunities for deepening cooperation in various fields. The meeting discussed that Kosovo's visa liberalization has led to a significant increase in the flow of tourists to Bulgarian winter resorts, which has the potential to positively affect economic cooperation.
Bayraktari expressed gratitude for Bulgaria's consistent support for state-building in Kosovo, which is the newest republic in the Balkans, and stressed that Bulgaria is a true partner and friend of his country.
For his part, Kondov noted that Kosovo can continue to rely on Bulgarian support in the future. He underlined the importance of the Bulgarian community in Kosovo as a natural bridge of friendship and welcomed the country's efforts to build a multi-ethnic society with equal opportunities for all citizens. In this context, some of the problems of the Bulgarian community in Kosovo and the possibilities to solve them were also discussed.
The talks highlighted the importance of efforts to strengthen the stability and peace in the region in the context of destabilising influences of external forces.
Topical issues on the European agenda, including the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, were also discussed.
