Vice President Iliana Iotova Thursday arrived on a visit to Albania, which is scheduled to continue until September 16. The Vice President's visit comes on the eve of the national census in Albania, an important moment for the Bulgarian national minority.

In the village of Golemo Ostrani (Ostreni i Madh), Iotova met with representatives of the Bulgarian national minority from the Golo Bardo region. She was welcomed at the settlement by representatives of the local authorities and of the Bulgarian Embassy as well as by residents, including musicians and girls in traditional costumes.

Within her visit, Iotova will open the new school year at the Bulgarian Sunday school in Elbasan. She will attend the presentation of the book in Albanian by Assoc. Prof. Spas Tashev "The Bulgarians in Albania".

Also on the agenda are meetings with President Bajram Begaj, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Belinda Balluku, Speaker of Parliament Lindita Nikolla, and Minister of Interior Taulant Balla. The Vice President will hold talks with Prof. Artan Hoxha, the Rector of the University of Tiranaq where Bulgarian language is studied.

The delegation led by the Vice President includes professors from Bulgarian universities and the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
