The Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) recognized the top-performing investment intermediaries, banks, and public companies of 2024 at a ceremony held at Grand Hotel Sofia. The event honoured brokers who executed the highest number of transactions and achieved the highest turnover, as well as contributors who significantly advanced the development of Bulgaria's capital market in 2024.

Addressing the ceremony, Caretaker Finance Minister Martin Danovski emphasized that events like this highlight the importance of the capital market. He noted that while the capital market in the European Union plays a key role in financing the real economy, its potential has not yet been fully realized. He added that Bulgaria’s capital market, though not among the largest in the EU, is interconnected with European processes, making its activities fundamentally important.

BSE CEO Manyu Moravenov expressed gratitude to the Finance Ministry for its institutional support. He acknowledged that the stock exchange turnover at the start of 2024 fell short of initial expectations but had grown to BGN 200 million by early December 2024. "We managed to catch up in just one month," he said, adding that the BSE’s turnover increased by 24% compared to 2023, with a 14% annual growth in the number of transactions.

"2024 was a good year in terms of turnover and transactions," Moravenov concluded.

In a press release earlier in January, BSE said that its annual turnover for 2024 reached BGN 975 million, marking a 24% increase compared to 2023. The number of transactions in 2024 amounted to 77,350, reflecting a 14% growth compared to the previous year. In December, the main index SOFIX rose by 5% on a monthly basis, while its year-to-date increase reached 17%.
