Romania’s President Klaus Iohannis issued a decree on Wednesday calling for the inaugural sitting of the new parliament to take place on December 20, the President’s Administration said in a press release.

The sitting will begin at 2 p.m. EET.

The Social Democratic Party, the National Liberal Party, the Save Romania Union, the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania, and the parliamentary group of national minorities agreed to form a coalition at a meeting in the Cotroceni Palace on Tuesday evening. They also expressed their willingness to support a common candidate in the presidential elections.

The political entities will meet again on December 12. The four parties that want to form a pro-European ruling alliance will have 304 out of 465 seats in the new parliament, or 66% of all elected MPs.
