site.btaFire Erupts at Dunarit Ordnance Plant in Rousse

September 27 (BTA) - A fire has erupted
in an explosives production facility in the Dunarit ordnance
plant, the local firefighting service chief Dimiter Pavlov said
here on Friday. He explained that all workers have been
evacuated and no injuries are reported so far.

Later in the day, Rousse Regional Governor Galin Grigorov, who
also heads the newly formed task force, explained that the
situation in the plant is under control and the fire has been
contained.

Dunarit's owner Emilian Gebrev told Bulgarian National TV that
no one has been injured in the fire and the residents of all
nearby settlements have been informed that the smoke is not
hazardous.

Everyone was evacuated from the plant within ten minutes. The
fire should be extinguished anytime now, but nobody will be
allowed to enter the plant for 24 hours as per safety
instructions, in order to avoid any risks, Gebrev explained.
