The Security Council at the Council of Ministers is holding a meeting over the fires raging in Bulgaria for several days now. The meeting was called by Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev. Representatives of several parliamentary forces commented on the situation:

Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria Floor Leader Nikolay Denkov: The meeting is certainly at least a few days late, otherwise things would have been better organized. The Security Council brings together all the key institutions.

Vazrazhdane leader Kostadin Kostadinov: The Security Council should have met long ago. In that case people would have mobilized on the ground. We talked about civil mobilization on Thursday, we haven't got around to discussing it yet.

BSP for Bulgaria Floor Leader Borislav Gutsanov: The measures taken by Parliament today should become irreversible processes. First of all, equipment should be acquired instead of allocating money for something which is there on paper only. People should feel safe in the knowledge that the State has their back.

There Is Such a People Deputy Floor Leader Stanislav Balabanov: The fires mirror the wrong decisions made by politicians in recent years. There are many question marks around the fires. The caretaker cabinet will hardly take responsibility because it is responsible for organizing elections. People have long wanted some stability in the country. We can't have helicopters when we have paid for fighter jets which have not materialized yet. The BG ALERT early warning system did not work.
