Justice Ministry Shortlists Three Applicants for Judge at European Court of Human Rights

The Commission on the selection of applicants for the position of Bulgarian judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), chaired by Prof. Plamen Panayotov, has shortlisted three of them -  Galya Valkova, Diana Kovacheva and Dragomir Yordanov -  the Justice Ministry said on Friday.

The Council of Ministers should adopt a decision on the approval of the first three shortlisted, as well as the reserve applicant for judge at ECHR, by July 5, 2023. After that, the names must be sent to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe which elects the justices of the Court in Strasbourg.

The term of the Bulgarian Judge at the European Court of Human Rights, Yonko Grozev, expires on April 12, 2024.
