site.btaBAS Corresponding Member Zhivka Marinova Presents "The Eternal City" Exhibition in Sofia
An exhibition by artist Zhivka Marinova named The Eternal City will open on February 11 at the Astry Gallery in Sofia, organizers said on Tuesday. The works will stay on display until February 28.
"The Eternal City is not a tourist walk through Rome. It has a much deeper and summarizing character and is another confirmation of the artist's high aesthetics and humanistic principles. It includes several 100/140 format oil paintings and a series of 20/30 cm miniatures painted over the past year," says Astry Gallery founder Vihra Pesheva.
According to her, Zhivka Marinova's cities are cities of refuge, cities of light, purity and respect for man and his creation.
Marinova is a painter, Senior Assistant Professor in Painting at the National Academy of Art and Head of Atelier 50. In 2024 she became corresponding member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). The artist has participated in numerous joint projects, has held solo exhibitions and has participated in general art exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. She paints in the genre of landscape and still life in different colour ranges. She has won various awards in Bulgaria and abroad.
