Stara Zagora, Southern Bulgaria (BTA) - Railway flood damages
are for close to 3.2 million leva, caretaker Transport Minister
Nikolina Angelkova told journalists on Thursday. Angelkova
inspected the condition of the Plovdiv-Stara Zagora and
Dimitrovgrad-Nova Zagora railway sections.
According to her, insurance companies are expected to provide
information about the compensation to be paid out. If the sum is
insufficient, funds will be sought from the Interdepartmental
Committee for Reconstruction and Assistance with the Council of
Ministers. Railway traffic from Stara Zagora to Plovdiv has been
resumed, while the return rails are yet to be repaired.
According to Angelkova, the flood's aftermath can delay work on
the Sofia-Bourgas railway section's repair works by no more than
a month.
