Food Wholesale Market Index Down 0.84 Per Cent in First Week of February

Sofia, February 7 (BTA) - The food wholesale market index declined by 0.84 per cent to 1.417 points in the first week of February, the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Wholesale Markets reported. Within one month, the index climbed 6.6 per cent. The baseline index dates from 2005.

Tomatoes cheapened by 14.5 per cent to 1.71 leva/kg. Imported cucumbers were trading at 1.98 leva/kg, up 12.5 per cent. Cabbages eased 0.05 per cent to 0.80 leva/kg, and potatoes were going at 0.62 leva/kg wholesale.

Apples appreciated 6.1 per cent to 1.05 leva/kg. Lemons rose 6 per cent to 2.09 leva/kg. Oranges went 1.0 per cent up to 0.99 leva/kg. Tangerines were trading at 1.32 leva/kg.

Cows' cheese climbed 0.4 per cent to an average selling price of 5.50 leva/kg, and Vitosha kashkaval yellow cheese was trading at 9.97 leva/kg. Cooking oil declined 1.9 per cent to 2.11 leva/litre. Minced meat was 0.9 per cent more expensive, reaching 4.64 leva/kg. Frozen poultry was selling at 3.76 leva/kg. Sugar gained 1.5 per cent to an average 1.39 leva/kg. Type 500 flour was trading at 0.85 leva/kg. White beans edged 0.3 per cent up to 2.87 leva/kg. Rice rose 1.6 per cent to an average 1.96 leva/kg. Eggs were trading at 0.19 leva apiece wholesale.
