Council of Electronic Media Elects New Leader

Sofia, May 9 (BTA) - An extraordinary meeting of the Council of Electronic Media (CEM) Monday elected Maria Stoyanova to be its new Chairperson. Her nomination was supported by four of the five CEM members.

Only Ivo Atanassov voted against her.

Stoyanova has a long career in journalism, beginning in 1995 in Darik Radio. She has also specialized in Austria and Germany, and worked for many news outlets in the two countries. For eight years she was the Berlin bureau chief of the Bulgarian National Television. She is the author of seven documentaries and sat on the jury of the 17th Hamburg International Filmfest.
