Unaccompanied Refugee Children, Posting of Workers Directive Discussed by Social Ministers of Bulgaria, Sweden

Sofia, October 6 (BTA) - The problem of unaccompanied refugee children and the amendment of the Posting of Workers Directive featured on the agenda of the discussions of Labour and Social Policy Minister Zornitsa Roussinova and visiting here Swedish Minister for Employment and Integration Ylva Johansson.

There were 35,000 unaccompanied refugee children in Sweden last year alone. According to the analyses, unaccompanied children are more easily integrated compared to the ones coming together with their families. Measures for social protection in combination with educational services are applied in the country.

The interlocutors also discussed the amendments of the Directive concerning the posting of workers. Both countries support the changes, which are aimed at protection of the EU values regarding the movement of people, equal payment  and labour conditions. According to Roussinova, the amendments are important in the context of the all-European topic on the prevention on undeclared employment and grey economy.

Johansson explained that there is no labour inspection in Sweden and the minimum wages and employment relations are regulated by the social partners. The changed Directive will help guarantee equal payment and labour conditions for posted and local workers.

The integration of vulnerable groups was also discussed at the meeting.
