Sofia, December 15 (BTA) - Sofia Airport Monday reported a 4.7
per cent increase in the number of passengers serviced in
November 2014 compared to the same month of 2013. A total of
263,564 passengers were serviced last month, of which 251,140
were travelling on international scheduled flights, up by 5 per
cent year-on-year.

The most significant increase in the number of passengers
serviced this November compared to the same month of 2013 was
reported by Wizz Air, Lufthansa, LOT, Turkish Airlines, Qatar
Airways, and British Airways.

A total of 9,975 of the passengers serviced were travelling on
domestic flights, which is a decrease by 5 per cent compared to
November 2013.

In November 2014, Sofia Airport serviced 3,112 flights, while in
the same month of 2013 this number was 3,104. The Bulgarian
airlines serviced 29 per cent of the flights and the foreign
airlines the remaining 71 per cent.

Last month, Sofia Airport processed 1,588 tonnes of freight and
postal parcels, which is an increase by 11.5 per cent from
November 2013.

As of mid-December, the Flydubai airline offers scheduled
flights from Dubai International Airport to Terminal 2 of Sofia
Airport twice a week.

This winter season, the traditional charter flights with British
ski tourists will be serviced by Thomson Airways, Thomas Cook
Airlines, BHAir and Jet 2.

For the first time this winter, Israel's Israir Airlines will
offer flights from Tel Aviv to Terminal 2 of Sofia Airport,
which will be carried out twice a week, the press release reads.
