site.btaGERB Leader Borissov Comments on Relations Within the Ruling Majority

GERB leader Boyko Borissov answered a journalist's question in the hallways of Parliament whether the tension in the ruling coalition has calmed down. “My patience ran out long ago, I think the government and the majority should be like a team. Because we have clearly said that on the regulators, the budget we do not want the support of the MRF - New Beginning and either there must be such a majority together with the Alliance for Rights and Freedoms, which will accept these things, or they will simply not be accepted.” 

Borissov claims that he has asked BSP - Unified Left to come out and publicly defend the candidacy of Rosen Karadimov for chairman of the Commission for Protection of Competition, otherwise GERB will not support him. Borissov insisted that they explain why they are proposing him, who he is, why they are backing him. “And then, as they stand behind our candidates, we will vote for him. But if they don't explain, or if MRF - New Beginning supports him, we will be against,” he stressed. 

Borissov does not agree that Kostadin Angelov should be replaced as rotating chairman of the Joint Governance Council, a possibility allowed by Democracy, Rights and Freedoms a few days ago on the grounds that the council is not functioning well. Asking publicly for the replacement of the council chairman was a tactical mistake, he added.

Borissov said it was possible that the regulators would not be filled if a majority was not found. Once again, he said the most important thing is to pass the budget and allow the state to function over the next twelve months.
