Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov presented his government's priorities to the ambassadors of the EU Member States during a meeting hosted by the Ambassador of Poland to Bulgaria Maciej Szymanski, the government press service reported on Thursday. Zhelyazkov said that the current cabinet is committed to Bulgaria being a constructive, reliable and predictable partner in the region, in the EU and in NATO.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government's work on preparing a balanced state budget and ensuring stable public finances. He also said that Bulgaria continues to work on its accession to the euro area.

Zhelyazkov highlighted Bulgaria's consistent support for Ukraine and stated that this support will continue. He was adamant that the EU should be a part of any negotiations that involve Ukraine's future, as this process could directly affect the security of Europe and the European security architecture system. The Prime Minister said that the guiding principle should also continue to be that no initiative on Ukraine can be taken without Ukraine itself being involved in the negotiations.

In the course of the meeting Zhelyazkov reiterated that the government strongly condemns the defacing of the building of the European Commission, which took place in Sofia on February 22 during protests organized by the Eurosceptic party Vazrazhdane.
