Japanese Government Decorates Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Coach Robeva with Order of the Rising Sun

Sofia, February 18 (BTA) - Japanese Ambassador to Bulgaria Takashi Koizumi presented the Japanese Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Rosette, to former Bulgarian rhythmic gymnast and coach Neshka Robeva for her outstanding contribution to encouraging the development of Japanese-Bulgarian relations, particularly in the sports field. The award comes following a decision announced by the Japanese Government on November 3, 2015, when Japan celebrates Culture Day.

Ambassador Koizumi voiced his sincere gratitude to Robeva for contributing to the development of rhythmic gymnastics in Japan and wished her health and success. Robeva thanked for the award, adding that this is a recognition for Bulgaria as well and not just herself.

The Secretary General of the Japanese Gymnastics Federation, Morinari Watanabe, arrived to personally attend the ceremony.

Starting in 1982, throughout her coaching career, Robeva has accepted and trained numerous Japanese athletes and coaches, thus contributing to shaping the future of Japanese rhythmic gymnastics. She has conducted many joint training camps for Bulgarian and Japanese competitors and coaches, fostering an environment and conditions for the two countries to exchange experience and talent.

Robeva's decoration brings the total number of Bulgarian recipients of a Japanese order for contributions in the field of culture to eight, excluding the Bulgarian ambassadors to Japan and former state leaders.
