GERB Deputy Chair: Bulgaria Will Not Hurry with Introducing the Euro

Dobrich, July 3 (BTA) - "It is important today to counter the problems, facing the whole Europe," GERB Deputy Chairman and Floor Leader Tsvetan Tsvetanov told journalists in the weekend. He visited subsequently Shoumen, Dobrich and Varna. Populism should be overcome and the refugee wave should be contained, according to Tsvetanov.

The GERB Deputy Chair said these priorities are more important while answering a question about the introduction of the euro. He confirmed the Prime Minister's position that Bulgaria will not hurry with launching the single European currency in Bulgaria.

Tsvetanov also said that GERB's candidates for president and vice president will be announced in September. The only thing he specified was that the presidential candidate would be a member of the party. The late nomination is aimed to reduce the period of political opposition, which would ensure better results of the state governance and allow addressing the burning problems.

There is definitely some risk after the terrorist attack in Istanbul but, according to the special services, at present there is no potential threat, Tsvetanov also said.
