PM Borissov: President Plevneliev Is Not Considered for Job of Bulgarian EU Commissioner

Shoumen/Sofia, October 30 (BTA) - President Rosen Plevneliev whose term is expiring soon is not among the likely replacements of Kristalina Georgieva. This emerged from a statement by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov in Novi Pazar on Saturday, where he attended the unveiling of a a new plant. On Friday Georgieva said that she is resigning from the European Commission to take up a senior post at the World Bank Group.

Borissov said that Plevneliev has to serve out his current term until January. He recalled that it was while he was prime minister Georgieva's portfolio at the European Commission and vice presidential job were agreed and Irina Bokova was elected Director General of UNESCO. "No one can outnegotiate us and I am convinced that we'll find the will together with the European Commission to find a replacement," said the Prime Minister

"We have enough prepared people in Bulgaria to replace Georgieva," said Borissov taking a question. "I can give you many names but it is not right. On Monday I will talk with EC President Jean Claude Juncker, I will see what his proposal are, we'll discuss them and we'll find a solution," said the Prime Minister.

Of Georgieva's decision to return to the World Bank, where she will assume the post of CEO, Borissov said: "This is the highest post in the World Bank, I don't know of any other Bulgarian in such a senior job."
