President Radev to Attend 19th Meeting of Heads of State of Arraiolos Group in Poland

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev will take part in the 19th meeting of the heads of state of the Arraiolos Group which will be held in Krakow, Poland, on October 10 and 11, the President’s administration said in a press release on Wednesday. Radev will participate in the forum at the invitation of his Polish counterpart Andrzej Duda.

This year's meeting will examine opportunities for deepening transatlantic relations in the face of global challenges and threats. The topic will also be a key priority of the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, which begins on January 1, 2025. The Arraiolos Group was established in 2003 as a platform for dialogue between presidents of countries from different EU regions.

The presidents of Italy, Portugal, Austria, Greece, Estonia, Slovenia, Latvia, Hungary, Slovakia, Germany and Croatia will participate in the informal meeting.

On October 10, President Radev will visit the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, where Bulgarian philology is studied. The Bulgarian head of State will hold a meeting with representatives of the university's management, scholars from the Institute of Slavonic Studies at the university’s Faculty of Philology, students, as well as representatives of the Bulgarian Sunday School in Krakow and other members of the Bulgarian community in Poland. At the Jagiellonian Library, Radev will attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition titled "Stories from Glagolitic Times". The exhibition was prepared by a team led by Assoc. Prof. Yavor Miltenov from the Institute for Bulgarian Language at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It will present little-known facts about the oldest Slavic alphabet and Bulgaria's role in its preservation. For the first time, valuable original manuscripts in Glagolitic and Cyrillic, which are being kept in the Jagiellonian Library, will also be put on display.

Radev is also scheduled to hold a meeting with the honorary consuls of Bulgaria in Poland.
