The conditions for tourism in the mountains are good, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) told BTA on Monday.
In the high part of the mountains there will be a light to moderate wind and high cloudiness. Temperatures will vary between -2C and 5C degrees. Mountain rescuers warned tourists to pay attention to the weather forecast in the given area, as rain or snow is expected depending on the altitude.
The facilities in the resorts are no longer working, the MRS added.
On Sunday, after 4 pm, a unit in Bansko responded to a signal about a female tourist with a knee injury. The incident occurred in Pirin. The victim was given first aid and was taken by snowmobile to a waiting ambulance.
The weather in the mountains will be mostly cloudy, and foggy at higher altitudes, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology said. Light rainfall is expected in some places, snowfall above 2,200-2,300 metres, with a light to moderate southerly wind, and a strong west-northwesterly wind on the highest peaks of Rila and Pirin. The highs will be around 9C at 1,200 metre and 3C at 2,000 metres.
