Defending champion Grigor Dimitrov on Monday qualified for the second round of the ATP 250 hard court tennis tournament in Brisbane, Australia.

The No. 2 seed Bulgarian beat German qualifier Hanfmann 7:6(5), 6:3 in 1 hour and 49 minutes.

Dimitrov's next opponent will be the wild card representative of the hosts Aleksandar Vukic.

The victory was the second for the Bulgarian in two matches against Hanfmann.

Grigor Dimitrov is focusing solely on the singles competition as he will not be participating in the doubles tournament in Brisbane. The Bulgarian and Sebastian Korda had entered but withdrew.
