The conditions for hiking in the mountains are poor on Friday, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross reported to BTA.

In the highest parts of the mountains the weather is cloudy, foggy, with moderate to strong wind.

In the lower parts there is a 40 cm snow cover and hikers should be prepared for winter conditions. The MRS also recommended that tourists stick to the marked trails.
The facilities in the resorts are not operational yet.

The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology said that the weather in the mountains will be cloudy, with light snowfall above 1,700m, rain and snow in the Rhodope Mountains, and moderate to strong southwesterly wind. The high ridges and peaks will be covered by clouds. Highs: 6C at 1,200 m., -1C at 2,000 m.
