Bulgarian Olympic Committee (BOC) President Stefka Kostadinova encouraged the Bulgarian Paralympians ahead of their competitions at the Paris Paralympics Friday and Saturday. She spoke to the Bulgarian Paralympians, their coaches and the rest in the 9-strong Bulgarian delegation by video conference, said BOK. "Bulgaria is with you! I want to send you strength, faith and huge energy for the upcoming competitions. [...] I am not speaking to you as a leader but as an athlete who knows the importance of support," she said.

She told them that she believes all three of them, being experiences competitors, are capable of making Bulgarians happy with new sporting accomplishments.

Bulgaria will be represented by track and field athletes Ruzhdi Ruzhdi, Hristiyan Stoyanov, and Stela Eneva.

Ruzhdi, a Paralympic champion from Rio 2016 and a silver medalist from Tokyo 2020, will compete in the men’s F55 shot put event at 8.05 p.m. on August 30. F55 is a disability sport classification for disabled athletes who compete in field events from a seated position. Sportspeople in this class have full arm function, partial trunk function and no lower limb function.

Eneva, who is Paralympic vice-champion from London 2012 and Rio 2016, will in the women’s F57 discus throw at 11.08 a.m. on August 31. F57 is a disability sport classification for disability athletics for people who compete in field events from a seated position. This class is for people with limb deficiencies not covered by other classes.

Stoyanov, a Paralympic vice-champion from Tokyo 2020, will appear in the men’s Т46 1,500 metres competition at 11.58 a.m. on August 31. T46 is a disability sport classification for disability athletics. People in this class have a single below or above the elbow amputation.

The call from Kostadinov came as a nice surprise for the Paralympians. "Such words mean a lot coming from a legend of Bulgarian and world sport. It gives us strength and confidence, and motives us to do our best," said Ruzhdi Ruzhdi.
