Bulgarians Stefani Stoeva and Gabriela Stoeva reached the quarterfinals of the women’s doubles badminton event at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. In their third group stage match on Tuesday morning, the three-time European women's doubles badminton champions secured their second win in the tournament by defeating Annie Xu and Kerry Xu (USA) in straight games – 21:18, 21:12.

The Bulgarians were in control of the match throughout its full 38 minutes. The Stoevi sisters led by 10:5 and by 19:15 on their way to win the first game, and in the second they also took an early 10:5 lead, keeping it until the very end. The longest rally in the match was a 58-strokes one and went on for 86 seconds.

Thus, Stefani Stoeva and Gabriela Stoeva reached their first-ever Olympic quarterfinal in the event in their third Olympic appearance.

The Bulgarians’ next opponents will be determined later Tuesday, as the final standings in their group B rest on the result of the upcoming match between China's Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning and Hong Kong’s Nga Ting Yeung/Pui Lam Yeung.
