The Rowing Canal in Plovdiv will host two World Championships in canoe-kayak in July, the organizers said on Tuesday.

The ICF Masters Canoe Sprint World Championship will take place from July 12 to 14, while the ICF Junior and U23 Canoe Sprint World Championship will be held from July 17 to 21. The competitions will also coincide with the celebrations of the 100th anniversary of canoe-kayaking in Bulgaria.

Over 1,100 athletes and a total of over 1,550 participants are expected to arrive in Plovdiv during the championships. More than 800 athletes from 67 countries will be part of the under-23 world championship, while the World Veteran Championships will await over 300 participants from 37 countries.

Bulgaria will be represented by 27 athletes in both championships, including Teodor Assenov, who won a bronze medal in the 200m single kayak at the European Under-23 Championships in Bratislava and will compete in the 500m single kayak race, as well as Pamela Ivanova, who will represent Bulgaria at the Olympic Games in Paris in the women's 500 metre single kayak and will participate in the 500m double kayak together with Vanessa Dimitrova in Plovdiv.
