At the end of December 2024 loans for house purchases were BGN 25.692 billion, an annual increase of 29.1% (26.3% annual growth in November 2024), the Bulgarian National Bank reported on Friday. In 2024, the amount of loans for housing has increased by BGN 5.791 billion.

The annual growth at the end of 2024 was also higher than the annual increase in 2023, when housing loans grew by 20.5% or BGN 3.389 billion compared to the end of 2022.

Over the past two years, the amount of loans for housing in Bulgaria has increased by nearly BGN 9.2 billion or an increase of 55% compared to the end of 2022.

Consumer loans amounted to BGN 18.836 billion and compared to December 2023 they rose by 11.9% (14.8% annual growth in November 2024). Loans to households and non-profit institutions serving households were BGN 46.374 billion (23.2% of GDP) at the end of December 2024. They increased by 20.8% compared to the same month of 2023 (20.4% annual growth in November 2024).

Loans to non-financial corporations in December 2024 increased by 10.1% annually (10% annual growth in November 2024), and at the end of the month amounted to BGN 48.581 billion (24.3% of GDP).

Loans granted to financial corporations were BGN 8.345 billion at the end of December 2024 (4.2% of GDP). Compared to December 2023, they increased by 11.5% (9.7% annual growth in November 2024).
