site.btaFund of Funds to Manage BGN 68.5 Mln under Environment Programme

The Fund of Funds signs a financing agreement with the managing authority of the Environment Programme on Friday. The total investment is BGN 68.5 million, provided by the programme for the 2021-2027 period, co-financed by the EU, the Fund said.

This is the fifth financing agreement for the 2021-2027 programming period that the Fund has signed, bringing the public resource managed by the Fund to nearly BGN 2 billion.

According to the agreement, the Fund will manage a public resource aimed at the Water and Waste sectors. A total of BGN 33.2 million are from the Cohesion Fund, and BGN 5.9 is national co-financing under the Water and Environment priority financial instruments. Nearly BGN 24.4 million of this total public resource are funds from the European Regional Development Fund, along with almost BGN 5 million in national co-financing under the Waste priority of the programme.

The Fund also indicated expectations to attract private capital in support of eligible water and sanitation operators, which will receive grant funding under the Water priority, as well as in support of municipalities, including municipal and recycling enterprises within the Waste priority.

The signed agreement provides for the establishment of debt financial instruments aimed at the two supported sectors.
