Nikolay Hristov has won bronze at the World Deaf Karate Championships, held on December 15-20 in Johor, Malaysia, earning Bulgaria’s first-ever medal in karate for deaf athletes. He placed third in the men's kumite 75 kg event.

Hristov is also Bulgaria’s first and only two-time bronze medallist at the Deaflympics, with medals in karate from the events in Samsun, Turkiye, in 2017 and Caxias do Sul, Brazil, in 2022.

His participation in the Championships was made possible through the support of the Bulgarian Deaf Sports Federation and the Youth and Sports Ministry.
