In 2023, 69% of EU citizens aged 16-74 used a website or an app of a public authority in the preceding 12 months, Eurostat said on Tuesday. Bulgaria had the second lowest share (30%) of individuals who interacted with a public authority online in the last 12 months after Romania (23%), while Germany had the third lowest share (58%).
The share varied greatly among EU countries, with highest shares recorded in Denmark (98%), Finland, the Netherlands and Sweden (all 95%).
In 2023, the largest share of individuals (42%) used e-government services in the previous 12 months to obtain information about services, benefits, laws, opening hours or other administrative data.
