Turkish authorities have confiscated 839 kg of drugs and 1,168,042 pieces of narcotics tablets in operations in a number of provinces of the country, said Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya on social media, quoted by the Turkish national radio and television corporation TRTH Haber.
The operations were carried out over two weeks in 77 of the country's 81 provinces, including Ankara, Istanbul, Izmir, Gaziantep, Konya and Adana.
A total of 1,713 people were detained on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The operations were carried out in coordination with the country's prosecution service and the regional directorates for combating drug trafficking and organized crime under the General Directorate of Security.
