“The most important thing for us is to see what will happen with the Judicial System Act at first reading," Kiril Petkov, MP and co-leader of Continue the Change (CC) told journalists on Monday. He attended celebrations of the 177th birth anniversary of poet and revolutionary Hristo Botev, which took place in Sofia's Borisova Gradina.

In Petkov's words, the changes to the Judicial System Act are of great importance. He believes that the acting Prosecutor General cannot be elected Prosecutor General with a seven-year term by the current Supreme Judicial Council.

The first meetings of the constitutional and legal affairs committee and the budget and finance committee have been convened for Tuesday, January 7.

"Delyan Peevski clearly stated that he wants to go to elections. Borissov and GERB said they do not want to sign the declaration, which means they do not want to break off their dependence on Peevski, and the result is clear," Petkov said of the failed negotiations to form a cabinet. "Unfortunately, they showed that until this dependence between the two is broken, a better future for Bulgaria will be hard to achieve," he added. He recalled that CC did not participate in the negotiations.

On Sunday, GERB-UDF announced that they were suspending negotiations on forming a government, while Democratic Bulgaria sent a position paper in which it said it had learned of the decision from the media.
