Prof. Dr. Krasimira Alexandrova handed over the post of Director of the Sts Cyril and Methodius National Library to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kalina Ivanova, the Library said following a directorial council on Monday.

Deputy Minister of Culture Kalin Velyov introduced Ivanova and announced that she will hold the post until a competition is held.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kalina Ivanova is the President of the Bulgarian Library and Information Association and the Director of the Petko R. Slaveykov Regional Public Library. She is a senior assistant professor at the Department of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Veliko Tarnovo, where she also lectures in Library Organization and Management, Library Science and Library History, Library and Communication Management and Library Strategy and Development. She is Associate Professor in Public Communications and Information Sciences, at the University of Library and Information Science and holds a PhD in Book Science, Library Science and Bibliography, UniBIT.

Prof. Dr. Krasimira Alexandrova retired after 8 years of being in charge of the Sts Cyril and Methodius National Library. She made the Library collection accessible to the public through numerous exhibitions and established the practice of organizing virtual exhibitions that are visible on the Library's website.

The National Library is included in UNESCO's International Memory of the World Register (2017) with the 11th century Enina Apostolos Old Bulgarian Cyrillic manuscript (fragment), Boril’s Synodicon manuscript (fragment), the Gospels of Tsar Ivan Alexander, and most recently part of Mawlana’s Kulliyat (The Complete Works of Mawlana).
