The number of banknotes in circulation at the end of June was 590,533,684, according to statistics of the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) published on its website on Monday. Compared to the end of May, they increased by 3,544,841. The number of counterfeit notes registered in the second quarter of the year was 397, or 172 more than the 225 detected in the first quarter. 

In the second quarter, the largest number of counterfeit banknotes with a denomination of BGN 100 was 230. The BNB reports an increase compared to the first quarter, when the number of fake BGN 100 banknotes was 50. The second most counterfeited banknote in the second quarter was the one with a denomination of BGN 20. The number of such banknotes detected was 83. There were 74 counterfeit notes of BGN 50, 10 notes of BGM 10 and none of BGN 5. 

The number of coins in circulation on June 30 was 3,280,981,558.

The total value of banknotes in circulation at the end of June was 28,763,197,295. The total value of coins in circulation was 604,904,611.
