The latest project by director Stephan Komandarev, Block Universe, is among the 35 selected for the prestigious Berlinale Co-Production Market, the director’s team said here on Friday. Each year, hundreds of candidates apply, with the selection process spanning several months and only a few projects chosen.

“This is a tremendous recognition of the project’s quality, which will open more doors for its successful realisation as a European co-production. The project is the result of the efforts and talent of Ralitsa Golemanova and Pavla Kotova. Special thanks to Martina Bleis and her team for the selection and their commitment to Block Universe,” Komandarev said.

He also expressed gratitude to the German co-producers from 42film GmbH for their loyalty and friendship, and to the emergency medical teams from the Centre for Emergency Medical Care in Sofia for their invaluable support during the research phase. Block Universe is based on a screenplay by Pavla Kotova and Komandarev.
