The traffic on the Danube bridge between Ruse and Giurgiu is running without major problems, an inspection carried out by Regional Governor Dragomir Draganov on Thursday showed. Cars have to wait up to 30 or 40 minutes at most to cross the facility at rush hour, the regional administration said.
Data show that 1,277 trucks exited the country from 9 a.m. on Wednesday to 9 a.m. on Thursday. By comparison, 64 fewer trucks crossed the bridge on their way to Romania in the same time span between July 9 and 10, before the start of the overhaul. More than 3,000 passenger cars have left the country. A total of 975 trucks entered the country on Wednesday, down by 327 compared to Tuesday. The decrease is due to the Romanian authorities not allowing vehicles to pass through the border crossing regularly for fear that they would be stuck on the bridge for a long time.
The situation has returned to normal, and there are currently no difficulties, the Ruse regional administration added.
