Bulgarian Finance Minister Assen Vassilev and US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) Chief Executive Officer Scott Nathan discussed possible investments in energy projects in Bulgaria and the North-South Initiative for transport and energy connectivity between Romania, Bulgaria and Greece at a meeting in Washington DC on February 12, the Finance Ministry said on Tuesday.
DFC shares in an ongoing expansion of the Chiren natural gas storage facility in Northwestern Bulgaria.
Vassilev and Nathan considered DFC's possible involvement in ventures related to renewable energy sources (wind, solar, geothermal) and energy storage. The development of Bulgaria's nuclear power potential at the Kozloduy Nuclear Power Plant was also in the focus of the discussion.
While in Washington, Vassilev attended the 5th Southeast Europe & East Med Conference, organized by the Delphi Economic Forum.
