site.btaDecline in Construction in Bulgaria Slows Down in December 2023
In December 2023, the production index in the Construction sector decreased by 0.4% compared to the previous month, preliminary and seasonally adjusted data of the National Statistical Institute (NSI) indicated. The calendar-adjusted data showed a 3.6% decrease in construction output compared to the same month in 2022. In December 2022 the decline in construction was 1.6% on a monthly basis, and 4.3 % year-on-year.
In December 2023, the index of construction output, calculated from seasonally adjusted data, was below the level compared to the previous month, with a decrease in building construction of 1.2%, while an increase of 0.7% was observed in civil/engineering construction.
In December 2022 a month-on-month decrease was recorded in civil/engineering construction (1.7%), and in building construction (1.6%).
The decreaseof construction output in the calendar-adjusted index on an annual basis in December 2023 was determined by the negative rate both in building construction, with a registered decrease of 4.5%, and in civil/engineering construction, by 2.4%. Annual figures in December 2022 pointed to a negative pace in both building construction and civil/engineering construction, at 6.1% and 2% respectively, a NSI reference indicates.
