The replacement of Deputy Transport and Communications Minister Grigory Grigorov was provoked by the unsatisfactory results in the management of Bulgarian Posts, as he was directly responsible for this portfolio, said Transport and Communications Minister Georgi Gvozdeykov at a hearing in the relevant committee in Parliament on Thursday in response to a question about the reshuffle in his ministry.

On January 31, the press service of the Council of Ministers said that by order of the Prime Minister, Eng. Boris Gerasimov was appointed Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications. Another order of the Prime Minister dismissed Grigorov from the post.

“As soon as our term in office began, we made a statement that one of the big goals is to do everything possible to stabilize the situation of Bulgarian Posts and to enable the company to start working towards improving its operations and developing other activities that it can do,” Gvozdeykov said. According to him, the problem was mainly that the deputy minister had promised at the beginning of his term that he would improve the company's financial performance. Another problem in Grigorov's work, which Gvozdeykov pointed out, is the lack of a clear vision and a plan with set deadlines to improve these results.

The confidence was not justified, Gvozdeykov added, noting that he had given Grigorov full freedom to work and to form his own team at Bulgarian Posts. “Obviously, these people were not performing their tasks properly, I personally had many remarks and there came that moment when we had to part,” Gvozdeykov further explained.

He added that Gerasimov will be in charge of digitisation, digitalisation and communications" in the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
